Track: Technical & System Administrator

Session Number: 17177
Date: Wed, Jun 7th, 2017
Time: 1:45 PM - 2:45 PM
Room: Salon 11

Description:

SOAP (Simple Object Access protocol) and REST (Representation State Transfer) are the most popular Web Services used by the PeopleSoft Developers for system integration.
SOAP is a Standard based Web Services protocol which have been extensively used while REST is a fairly new in the Web Services world. Many developers found SOAP is more hard to use, REST provides a simpler alternative to those.
Although REST was introduced to fix the problems with SOAP and to provide simpler Web Services, in few scenarios SOAP seems to be easier to implement.
I will be going through the advantages and limitations for both, which includes differences in Architecture, Development and Implementation steps to the migration and maintenance. This will help making decision in any future implementation of Web Services .
Also I will be walking through with examples how we use those in PeopleSoft HCM applications.
